Uh Oh. Eagles Trade for Guard
The Eagles have traded a conditional pick for Cardinals backup guard Reggie Wells.
This has got to mean the Eagles don’t see as much depth in their O-line as we had optimistically considered. Particularly, it could spell doom for MJG or even Stacy Andrews.
Maclin Carted Off — Knee Hyperextended
Scary moment at practice today — it actually ended practice — Jeremy Maclin had to be carted off and limped into the locker room.
The Eagles have stated it’s a hyperextended knee, which is a relief but could keep him sidelined for quite a bit of time.
Dixon Major Injury?
Update: Dixon, according to Reid, “dinged his head.” We’ll have to see today whether he’s been diagnosed with a concussion and how long he might be out.
If expression of pain can be used to directly determine the extent of injury, then Antonio Dixon may have the camp’s first really serious injury. More to come.
Eagles Training Camp Day 8
A lot of Eagles getting some time off these days due to minor injuries. DeSean Jackson isn’t practicing today. Ditto for Asante Samuel and Stewart Bradley. Mike Bell and Jordon Norwood are also being held out.
All of these guys should be back very quickly. And for some of them (ahem, Asante) this seems to be a training camp ritual.
Eagles Training Camp Day 2 — Allen Inks Deal
Notes for the start of day two of training camp:
- Nate Allen finally signed his deal late yesterday and will be at practice shortly. It’s a four year-deal.
- The injured big guys — Abiamiri, Jackson, and Herremans — all worked out together with the training staff yesterday. Andy said that Jackson is progressing ahead of schedule. It would still be foolish to think he’ll be ready for the start of the season.
- Brandon Graham isn’t likely to be signed any time soon. First round picks are taking longer than usual this year, and he and his agent aren’t about to upset the natural order of things and possibly leaving dollars on the table. It’s a waiting game.
Eagles Training Camp — Practice Day 1
Players are on the field at Lehigh today. Football is back! A few early notes:
- Todd Herremans has been placed on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. There’s simply no way to feel good about this, despite coach Reid claiming he’s just being safe with the important lineman.
- Kevin Kolb and Michael Vick are both out early on the practice field.
- Nate Allen remains unsigned despite the organization claiming a deal is very close for several days.
- Full contact practices will likely not start for several days.
Allen Deal Very Close
7/26 ~10:30pm update: No deal yet. At this point it seems unlikely Allen is making it to the Birds first practice tomorrow. Yes, you can consider that a poor reverse jinx attempt.
Jeff McLane says both sides want this done by 5 pm today so Allen can be on time for camp. We’ll keep you posted.

Lehigh Gets Busy Today
Eagles rookies and select veterans will be reporting to camp today. The Eagles have signed all their draft picks with the notable exceptions of Nate Allen and Brandon Graham, of course. Allen’s deal should be coming within the next few days. Graham’s contract negotiating could easily stretch into the first week or two of August.
Stay tuned as we keep you updated on all important (and probably a bunch of unimportant) camp happenings.
Nate Allen Deal Closer?
Looks like things could be progressing.
Team source tells me Eaglesand safety Nate Allen have had “positive dialogue” on a contract.
That according to Geoff Mosher. Expect Allen to be signed within the next several days, as most of the 2nd round picks make it into camp.
Brandon Graham, on the other hand…
DeSean Jackson at Club During Shooting?
That seems like what he’s saying on his Twitter account.
LA is still same ol LA… Ppl out shootn at the club.. Craazy 2 females and a dude got shot.. Pray for them.. Thankn god for keeping me safe
Not going to try and argue that Jackson needs to take better care of himself or be more responsible, we have no idea where he was or what the circumstances were. Being in the NFL doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy life like other young, single guys. Let’s just hope Jackson and other guys in the league know when to spot trouble and how to get out quickly.
Allen, Graham — No News is Bad News
The Birds open training camp in eight days, but their two most important rookies are still unsigned.
This is not surprising for Brandon Graham — first-round picks are inking their contracts later this year than previous years, which means many if not most of those players will be missing time.
But Nate Allen still remains unsigned, and there is apparently very little in the way of action on that front.
This is not good news for a team that appears ready to rely heavily on Allen to contribute in the secondary.
