Your Current Race Leader: The Raiders

This entry was posted on Mar 26 2010

Reports of terms of the deal are sketchy, but more keep coming in.  The more folks who claim knowledge of similar details the more solid the leads seem.

What seems to be the case:  the Raiders are willing to include Nnamdi Asomugha in the deal.  But the Eagles are wary of his gigantic contract.  The Raiders would not require McNabb sign an extension, which might help sway McNabb’s opinion on the deal towards okaying it.

The Raiders could certainly use a guy like McNabb to help Jamarcus Russell become, you know, a grown up.

Refer to Adam Schefter for the important details of Asomugha’s contract.

  1. I’d take Asomugha straight up for McNabb if that’s what they’re getting at. If the Eagles could guarantee he would be retained after this year, or restructure his contract with signing bonuses in this uncapped year, how could you be against that? The defense would instantly improve its pass rush and blitzing ability with two ’shutdown’ corners in the backfield.

  2. Yes I would take Asomugha, he is hands down the best corner in the league…. Mc Nabb has had his time and now its time for a new face Kevin Kolb, he has shown that he can be a starter in the nfl…. so lets make the deal happen!!!!!!!

  3. woooow.he has proven he can be a starter in the nfl???how?by beating the cheifs or losing to the saints and throwing multiple ints?mcnabb has the nfls all time lowest int % and 3rd best touchdown to int ratio all time.what in the hell is wrong with you people.you will hate whoever replaces him and then whoever replaces that person.u just wanna complain.ugh.

  4. McNabb does not need to ok anything. I thought he had a no trade clause. I wonder what they will do about their number 3? I don’t think Vick is going anywhere.

  5. CORRECTION: I meant to say I don’t think he has a no trade clause.

  6. Nevermind. I misread what the writer was saying. (He was referring to the Eagles okaying the deal, not McNabb) I think Reid should look at drafting a 3rd QB. I like the guy from App. State, but he’s small - 5′11”. I like Pike from Cincy, but I don’t think he fits in Reid’s offense. (He can’t run) Colt would be good, but he will be gone and it’s not worth spending a 1st round on a QB this year.

  7. i think the writer is trying to say the deal would need mcnabbs approval to get him to sign a long term deal.they can rent him for a year and franchise him the next but the raiders are more than two years out of contention.
