Peters — X-Rays Negative

That’s the word from the Eagles’ Chris McPherson.
Update: MRI’s tomorrow for Peters (knee), Gaither (foot), and Victor Abiamiri (knee). Expect bad news for Abiamiri. The other two are up in the air.
It seems Broderick Bunkley’s injury is not serious (relatively, anyway).
What a disaster.

Eskin said tonight on Football Night in Philly that the word is Peters’ injury is also serious. May not be season-ending but could be out for a while. Paging Runyan…
So how about them Phillies? I think Philly just became a baseball town for another season. I am an Eagles homer to a fault, but this team has some major faults and will be hard pressed to compete with the Vikes, Saints and the Giants (granted they may have some serious issues as well). Maybe this will pull the team closer together and they’ll kick some ass the rest of the season (a la Florida after lossing one game last year) but right now I just don’t see it. It doesn’t matter how many weapons a team has if its QB is on his back or hurried with every drop back. And can we just put Michael Vick on the bench the rest of the season please? I don’t care he’s back in the NFL or anything but he adds NOTHING to the offense. There should be a 2 TD lead rule for Vick.
The defense has too many problems to even remotely discuss but if I were an opposing TE I would be ecstatic to be playing the Eagles. I would invite my whole extended family to the game because I would probably have a career day. It was fun to see Trotter back on the field but I think its time he hangs up the pads for good. Trading deadline is Tuesday. Any chance the Birds go out and buy a Mike for the rest of the season?

Doubtful, simply because there aren’t a lot of options out there. Remember, the Patriots just signed Junior freaking Seau. He was a guy they let go because he was really bad at the end of the 2008 season. With no other good options, they brought him back.
Hopefully Gaither’s foot injury is non-serious, he stays healthy, and we move forward with him as the permanent fixture there.
