Eagles Sign Jeff Garcia

This entry was posted on Sep 14 2009

He’s back.

He will backup Kevin Kolb if McNabb can’t play this weekend — and although that’s the “official” line, signing of a guy like Garcia might not speak highly of the Birds’ faith in Kolb.

  1. I understand that this could spell trouble for Kolb but the Eagles could also just be covering all their bases. If they went into Sunday’s game with just Kolb and Jackson as the emergency QB and Kolb got hurt that’d be stupid. Look what happened this past Sunday, two teams ended up using 5 QBs. They needed a capable backup this week.

I would much rather see McNabb play on Sunday but I am interested to see what Kolb can do in a game from the start. Last year he was thrown to the wolves in the Ravens game and Sunday’s game was a rout so there wasn’t the usual energy and focus on the offense. Reid has continually stood by him so I would just like to see something from him.

The injury sucks but I think it will be just a speed bump for this team. The schedule (sans the Saints) couldn’t be better for the Birds. I wonder if Reid is upset about that week 4 bye week now? On another note, I got hooked on baseball this spring and summer but man once football started I realized how much better football really is! I now just flip on the Phils game to see an inning or so.
