  1. Kyle Eckel wasn’t really given the opportunity to show what he is worth. But to be honest the team has no room for him with Leonard Weaver in the fold.

Reggie Brown begun his decline to being cut last season.

Jason Babin shouldm’t even be on this list, did you see all the plays he made during the preseason. There wasn’t a single preseason game where he didn’t make an impact.

Bryan Smith, it’s a shame but he will be one of the many players cut but will likely latch-on with another team.

I believe Eldra Buckley proved he was the true third running back on this team last night.

The Eagles Coaches aren’t dumb. They know the potential that Brandon Gibson possesses and they won’t even take a chance by placing him on the practice squad. Gibson will make the team outright.

  2. Bill, good analysis. I think Babin may be closer to getting cut than you might think, because there is so much talent on that D-Line. It really depends on how many guys they want to keep (last year was 9).

    Seems like everyone loves Buckley.

Brandon Gibson’s case is much like Babin’s. The Eagles have deep receiving corps. They may have to decide between a guy like Gibson or an extra defensive back. It’s Curtis, Jackson, Avant, Maclin and almost certainly Baskett (though maybe the coaches will surprise us).

  3. According to the team’s site they have re-done Babin’s contract today with new terms. So it looks like he’s an Eagle for a while which makes me happy. He was very productive in the preseason. Hopefully his drive and tenacity will carry over to the regular season when he’s going up against the #1s all the time.

Buckley is in. Reid all but verbalized that last night during the game by pulling Booker at any 3rd and 1 downs and putting in Buckley. That told me Reid didn’t trust Booker to get the 1st down.

I really like Gibson too. That one catch he made in the game where he climbed the ladder, caught the ball, and got his legs taken out from beneath him and still made the completion was impressive.
