Practice Report: August 18th

This entry was posted on Aug 18 2009

The Eagles have cut safety Rashad Baker, who they acquired in the off-season after he played for the Raiders in 2008.  They signed a safety out of Michigan named Brandon Harrison.

Today is the last practice before the game on Thursday.  Tomorrow will just be the walkthrough.

Brent Celek (shoulder) is back working out with the team today.  Working out with training staff is Trent Cole (shoulder) and Sheldon Brown (ribs).

No word yet on who is definitely out for Thursday, but it appears likely that Sheldon Brown, Kevin Kolb, Shawn Andrews, and Omar Gaither will all be in street clothes.  We’ll update when we get word.

Update:
Guys not playing tomorrow (in no particular order) –  Shawn Andrews, Stacy Andrews, Sheldon Brown, Trent Cole, Kevin Colb, Todd Herremans, Jason Peters, Darren Howard, Brian Westbrook, Omar Gaither.

Update II:
Reid says that Shawn Andrews has been cleared to practice, and will be eased in after the Colts game.

  1. The Eagles are going to have the best second and third string teams in the NFL this year with all these reps! Lets just hope they don’t become the first string by default come September. Good news for Andrews. Maybe once he gets out on the field and finds out he can make it through a practice he’ll make a full recovery.

  2. Now that Shawn Andrews has been cleared by his doctor it should be only a matter of time before he is back starting at right guard. Adam Caplan from Scout’s Inc says that he has a fifty percent chance of starting in the game at Carolina. But if the doctor who performed back surgery on him is willing to clear him to return to practice then I believe he will start the opening regular season game.

At right tackle his brother Stacy Andrews should start by the first regular season game. He has yet to play a preseason game but eagles insiders assure people keeping him out of the preseason games is just a precaution and not because he’s too injured to handle the position.
