Vick

Signs a two year deal with the Birds.  Details to come.

It’s a one year deal with a $5+ million option for 2010.  This sure seems like a one-year “let’s see what this guy can do to help us get a trophy” move.

We really don’t know how he’ll be used yet, if at all.  How quickly can he get into shape?

2009 will be a circus.

How many offensive plays will Mike Vick get in this season?

  1. Wow. Still trying to wrap my head around this one. A good way to turn attention away from a pretty lousy game. You think Vick can play some on the O-line? I actually have no problem with the Eagles bringing him in and I am in veterinary school so I love animals more than most. I just serioulsy cannot believe it was the Eagles that signed him.

  2. Yeah, it’s really going to be quite a year. It is truly incredible being an Eagles fan. What is going to happen if this team is ever boring?

  3. I agree, it will be a media circus. The hype machine that is espn is going to have a field day with this. i have seriously already read an artice that says that vick’s pickup is a direct slap or disrespect to the face of mcnabb… i mean come on already its like the media want to make it damned if you do damned if you dont with everything, and its starting to get stupidly frustrating to hear/read/watch…

but i say bring it on, andy ried has always done a good job of keeping a team focused though the nonsense that surrounds it ((t.o. anyone?), and i guess the eagles wont mind too much when they remember that, they have; in the backfield, westbrook, mccoy, and vick as wildcat, then desean jackson and curtis/maclin/avant/celek on the outside. i mean that is truly the definition of a nightmare for defenses. all three people in the backfield would have the ability/speed to break the big one at anytime especially when there’s too many people on the field with talent to double cover more than one person. well i may be getting ahead of myself a little :) considering winston justice is also in that equation…….

it will be fun to watch what happens!

  4. I just cant wait to see Vick McNabb Djax and westbrook all on the field the same time …

  5. A circus it may be, but if Vick listens to Andy and Donovan it won’t be as bad as you might think.

This move is something that I am still trying to wrap my head around as well.

I mean, I have a pretty good idea as to why and it has little to do with football and more to do with second chances.

Andy is close with Donovan and Tony Dungy, and both have been acting as mentors to Vick. So to me it is very likely that Donovan facilitated this and Tony helped convince Reid that it would work out in the long run.

Not to mention that Andy watched his Kids go through a similar process probably swayed Andy’s decision a bit.
