Eagles Haven’t Had Any Discussions With Bills?

4 Comments | This entry was posted on Apr 10 2009

Contradicting a questionable report by colleague Michael Smith earlier this week, ESPN.com writer Tim Graham says a league source informed him the Bills and Eagles have had no talks regarding Jason Peters.

He says that the Bills aren’t close to trading him to anyone, in fact.

Peters contract demands are paralyzing the Bills in more ways than one.

Eagles Rumors:

Bengals Apparently Delirious

Per John Clayton, the Bengals are asking for a first and a third round pick for Chad Johnson.  If it is true that Johnson is on the trading block and it’s also true that this is the Bengals’ asking price then expect to see him back in Cincinnati.

We’re not even sure you could talk Dan Snyder into something that dumb.  Not only would the new team be giving up two valuable picks, they would also be signing the 31 year-old to a new contract.  And keep in mind there are question marks about his future effectiveness after a terrible ‘08.

It remains to be seen whether this is just posturing by the Bengals in negotiations.  But if it isn’t, Johnson will be spending another season on a losing team in Cincinnati.

Eagles Going After Chad Johnson?

Michael Smith did a quick segment on yesterday’s NFL Live — stating that the Bengals organization (with the notable exception of owner Mike Brown) had resigned themselves to Chad Johnson having played his last game in Cincinnati.

Smith went on to say that he had “heard the Eagles could be interested” — which doesn’t mean much, as you might guess.

But we’re staying focused on this one.  If Johnson is indeed on the trading block the price shouldn’t be very steep.

Bengals beat writer Joe Reedy states that this year could indeed be the time Johnson leaves town, but acknowledges that the person who is ultimately going to make that final decision is Mike Brown.  Who, if Michael Smith is to be believed, is the only person in the organization who seems to want him back.

Rumor Value:

Boldin Still Talking about Leaving Arizona

Things have been pretty quiet with the guy, and the assumption has been that he is more receptive to staying in Arizona and something was being worked out.  Well…

Arizona (for now) receiver Anquan Boldin still wants out of the Cardinals organization. And he believes if the Dolphins trade for him and make that escape possible, he’d absolutely welcome the idea.

“I would love to,” Boldin said of playing for Miami on ESPN Radio 760 in Palm Beach. “You know, I’m a Florida guy, always will be a Florida guy at heart. If it happens, I’ll definitely be grateful.”

………

The situation has left Boldin uncertain where he’ll play in 2009.

“Honestly, I don’t know,” he told the radio station. “It’s at a point right now where there’s not any discussion between myself and the team. When something does happen, I’ll let my agent take care it. I guess he’ll converse with the GM or management … It’s a tough situation and you definitely don’t want this hanging over your head going into another season, especially it being a couple of years past due…”

And let the speculation begin anew.

Does Jackson Have a Future in Philly?

No, not the little guy.  We’re talking about Jamaal.  Actually, Les Bowen is talking about Jamaal.  We think his thoughts on the center position in Eagletarian today are good enough to just post in their entirety here:

A closing thought: If I were Jamaal Jackson, I’d show up for minicamp in really good shape. The Eagles just re-signed Nick Cole, who will either start at guard or push Jackson for the center job. And whenever you see anything written about a center who’s highly rated going into the April 25-26 draft, the Eagles are among the teams that attended his pro day, asked him in for a visit, or have otherwise expressed interest.
