Cardinals Release Former Eagle Rod Hood

This entry was posted on Apr 29 2009

Yesterday the Cardinals announced they were cutting cornerback Rod Hood.  Hood left the Eagles after the 2006 season to get a chance to start.  The Eagles did make an effort to keep him, but would not guarantee him a starting position.

Hood was replaced as a starter midway through the season this year.

Many fans thought it was a mistake for the Eagles to let Hood leave.  Two years later the decision appears to be validated.

  1. just another example of the fans thinking we know whats best and assuming our f.o did something stupid just like letting go of trotter and, sorry to say but just like letting go of dawk.this team is a VERY well ran team.i can appreciate the strong opinions and passion,i think that sets us apart but somtimes we should just trust that they know what theyre doing.

  2. But I don’t wanna! whah! whah!

  3. Not to sound like a broken record, but with the Sheldon situation, sign Hood for cheap, sell Sheldon high.

I don’t think it’s necessarily a specific player that just “got worse” by going to another team, but I think it’s they just didn’t fit in that new team’s scheme. ie: Trotter = pretty good while an Eagle, sucked as Skin, good as Eagle. Dawkins will be the same situation. He is in a new scheme and new players, coach, etc.. So, he probably won’t do well. Dawkins definitely had at least one more year left in the tank to groom Demps.

I know the Eagles are continuously trying to stay young, but sometimes it’s a bit baffling.

  4. i understand them letting him go.hear me out.they offered him two years, hes 36.so that would cover the one year left in the tank.but what did he want 4,5 years?hed be 40.if anybody could do it at 40 it would be dawk but i still doubt it.two years woulda been perfect.get a superbowl with us go out on top.as an eagle.god,i wish he woulda stayed for whats about to happen.
