Hobbs Also Unhappy With Contract

This entry was posted on Apr 27 2009

Ellis Hobbs made it known that he is unhappy with current contract, which will earn him $2.5 million this season (the last on the deal).

It’s definitely frustrating when you see guys making certain amounts of money that you think you should get.”

The Eagles are unlikely to care.  Hobbs seems like a one-year guy for the Eagles, who may choose to try to hang on to him if he performs well in his walk year.

  1. Hopefully Hobbs realizes this year should be considered a job interview for the rest of the league. If he plays well maybe the Eagles will give him an extension and if they don’t he’s a free agent and can go out and get the money he thinks he “should” get. I want a job where I can be unhappy about $2.5 million!

  2. If you read further you would also see that he said that he didn’t expect to get a new contract, but would play his best and hope that by the end of the season the Eagles see his determination and offer him a new contract. Also saying he would like to make it his home if allowed.

  3. this will be a slippery slope for the eagles if they choose to restructure his deal this year or next. sheldon brown will be even more pissed off if hobbs gets money before he does. i dont know whats going to happen i just hope it works out.

  4. @SteveO — Yeah, Hobbs appears to understand his situation and hopefully he’ll continue to act professionally.
