Bengals Apparently Delirious

This entry was posted on Apr 09 2009

Per John Clayton, the Bengals are asking for a first and a third round pick for Chad Johnson.  If it is true that Johnson is on the trading block and it’s also true that this is the Bengals’ asking price then expect to see him back in Cincinnati.

We’re not even sure you could talk Dan Snyder into something that dumb.  Not only would the new team be giving up two valuable picks, they would also be signing the 31 year-old to a new contract.  And keep in mind there are question marks about his future effectiveness after a terrible ‘08.

It remains to be seen whether this is just posturing by the Bengals in negotiations.  But if it isn’t, Johnson will be spending another season on a losing team in Cincinnati.

  1. Not Delerious…..GENIUS! Let me explain. How do you satisfy a disgruntled reciever with a giant ego who wants to be traded? Easy. You act like you (the bengals) are really interested in trading (which they are not) by asking for picks similar to the Roy Williams trade (set market for #1 receiver trades). The only person in the NFL that thinks he is worth that is Chad. There is no way anyone is going to give up more than a 2nd for him. At the end of the day, the bengals can scream no trade partners, ACT like they tried. This keeps Ocho Stinko semi-happy and keeps him a bengal for atleast two more seasons while they develop young talent around him and then eventually cut him due to cap ramifications at the age of 34. Or I could be way off.

  2. smaart.i didnt think about it that way, maybe showing him he cant bring in offers like that will bruise his ego enough to get him to fall in line, not only just satisfy him.

  3. I have seriously prayed for Q Boldin. He is the solution to the reciever problem. We struck gold with D. Jackson in the draft last year. lightning rarely strikes twice. I hope this logic seaps into the extra thick, almost steel like substance that protects the gelatine substance the Joe Banner calls a brain. ;)

  4. i actually think if edwards last season was just an off year, with the drops,he would be best hes young and big plus, i named my son braylon cuz my wife told me we couldnt name him after an eagle so how perfect would that be?

  5. I wasn`t huge on Braylon due to my man crush on Q. But naming your son Braylon…. well that just sounds like destiny! For the sake of the birdz, I HOPE your wife becomes annoyed in the near future!

  6. lol.me too.
