Tony Scheffler Rumored to Be Available
Bronco’s tight end Tony Scheffler is generally regarded as a one-dimensional player. And according to Pro Football Weekly, that has made him expendable to new coach Josh McDaniels.
Scheffler is 26, has fantastic hands and leaping ability but will not help any team in the running game.

Weaver Signs with Eagles After All
We hope everyone has been enjoying the NCAA tournament. We have been, perhaps a little too much, and the confusion over who was responsible for the site yesterday and today left us without a report on Weaver. Apologies, I suppose these sort of things are to be expected when you roll out a new project (and when those involved like their beer and basketball a little too much).
Anyway, since it’s not really fun to play the game unless you keep score, we’re going to link back to the post a few days ago where Bob Brookover reported an anonymous league source said the Eagles chances at getting Weaver were very slim. Oops.
In the end the Eagles offer was rather minimal — one year, maximum value of $2.5 million from the rumors. If Weaver got a better deal than that — and we suspect he must have gotten a multi-year offer from someone — he chose the Eagles because of other reasons (chance to win, his role in the offense, etc).
Eagles Getting Private Workout with Ingram
Cornelius Ingram, tight end prospect out of Florida, will perform a private workout for the Eagles next week.
Ingram impressed scouts yesterday at Florida’s pro day in Gainesville, running a 4.5 forty yard dash while measuring up at 6′4″ and 246 pounds. Ingram is coming off knee surgery.
According to Michael Dirocco of the Florida Times-Union, Ingram impressed many scouts with his workout and never dropped a pass.
Ingram is currently projected by many analysts as a 3rd, 4th, or 5th round pick.

Eugene Monroe Gets a Tour of Eagles Facility
Eugene Monroe, perhaps the future #1 pick of the draft, revealed during an interview on Sirius radio that he had already visited Philadelphia and had been given a tour of the NovaCare Complex.
Never let it be said that the Birds are not wishful thinkers, I suppose.

Eagles on Hand to Watch McCoy
Representatives from the Eagles were on hand in Pittsburgh yesterday for the Panthers Pro Day. It was the first time scouts got to see LeSean McCoy perform individually.
His forty time was pretty mediocre (4.51), but he apparently looked quite good in the pass catching drills.
McCoy is projected as a potential late first round or early second round pick.
Eagles Coaches on Hand to Watch FSU’s Brown
The Eagles linebacker coaches were in Tallahassee, FL yesterday to watch Florida State’s Everett Brown.
Brown played both linebacker and defensive end in college. He posted outstanding numbers at the combine. He measures up at nearly 6′2″ and 256 pounds.
Brown is projected to be a high to mid first rounder.
This is a big week for NFL pro days — FSU, Pitt, Georgia, Florida, Penn State, and several other schools are holding their workouts this week. We’ll keep you posted as it relates to Eagles rumors.
Blocking Tight End
This is purely speculation, but we’re going to keep an eye on what happens with Anthony Becht. This obviously isn’t the most glamorous guy out there, and he’s pedestrian as a pass-catcher — but Becht is well known as one of the better blocking tight ends in the league.
Anything he signs will be pretty inexpensive, and the Eagles need a guy in the #2/#3 TE spot who can drive someone back or hold his position once in a while.

Eagles Not Interested in Torry Holt?
An anonymous source in the Eagles organization has stated that the team has no interest in veteran wide receiver Torry Holt. Information from anonymous sources should always be looked upon with a critical eye, but it is important to note that whoever Bob Brookover has spoken with has given him good information in the past (you may recall an article last November stating the team was determined to get younger at tackle in 2009).
Rumor has it that the Giants are also going to pass Holt, who will be 33 when the season starts. Holt has been incredibly productive during his time with the Rams, but that productivity finally diminished in 2008 (64 receptions, 3 TDs).

Eagles to Get Private Look at Heyward-Bey
The Baltimore Sun reports that the Eagles’ draft evaluators will have a private workout in College Park with Darius Heyward-Bey, the Terrapins wide receiver.
Heyward-Bey turned quite a few heads with a ridiculous 40 yard dash time at the combine (4.3 flat). He also has ideal size at 6′3″.

Rumor: Eagles’ Chance of Signing Weaver Very Slight
A quiet weekend for this site, as both some server tweaks and a violent laptop death left us scrambling. Fortunately, the Eagles weren’t up to much either.
As we check in this morning, there is a report from Bob Brookover that the Eagles are not likely to be signing Leonard Weaver after all.
There were indications yesterday that free-agent fullback Leonard Weaver will be playing somewhere other than Philadelphia next season.
A league source said that the Eagles had not had contact with Weaver’s agent, Harold Lewis, for several days. The source indicated that Weaver might re-sign with the Seattle Seahawks or go to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Eagles have upwards of $40 million in cap space and a less than satisfactory existing solution at fullback.
Update: Here’s a report from ProFootballWeekly yesterday:
As the second wave of free agency takes form, it appears that the Eagles and Vikings — who essentially run the same offense — are among the top teams interested in Seahawks FB Leonard Weaver.
