Donald Brown Shows Off Pass-Catching Skills

UConn held it’s pro day yesterday. RB Donald Brown, who will have a private workout with the Eagles early next month, limited his workout to some position drills and reportedly looked excellent catching the football.
UConn has never had any player drafted in the first round, but Brown is likely to change that.

I really wouldn’t mind getting brown, he’s a hell of a player, and you wont have to worry about his effort or heart because he has plenty of both. However i think there are better ways to improve our team in the 1st round… buuut if he is picked 1st round i expect there will be some boo’s at the draft.

Have a look at the running backs who went in rounds 1 and 2 last year. With the exception of Mendenhall, who got injured, they were all pretty big successes who improved their teams in a big way.
There is, of course, the “any competent running back will be good if the team knows how to run the ball”, but still. The hit-rate for early round RBs last year was incredible.
ZERO runnings backs in this years projected 1st round prospects compare to last years crop. Apples to Oranges my friend.
Well no — there are certainly no McFadden’s. But there was some tremendous late first round, second round, and third round type talent who this year’s class compares to, right?
Matt Forte, Ray Rice, Kevin Smith, Steve Slaton.
And there was a tremendous decline in success at the running back slot after Slaton (who went towards the end of the 3rd). So last season if you waited until late in the draft to take a running back it hurt you.
That was my point, not to compare anyone in this year’s class to McFadden or Stewart. That would be a mistake, you’re right.
